The Detective Pikachu movie was released this weekend, giving us our first glimpse of the CGI versions of many Pokémon. After watching the movie, the Pokémon Company, the production team of Pokémon, said they didn't like the part where the big tongue licked people. Erik Nordby, the visual effects supervisor of Detective Pikachu, explained that in order to create the scene of the big tongue licking people, they specially made a latex tongue prop and then covered it with fake saliva. He also revealed that the Pokémon Company did not like this scene: "That scene was us directly challenging the edge of their comfort zone." In addition, the film's director once asked the Pokémon Company about the specific settings of the Magic Wall Dolls, but they were unable to give a definite explanation at the time. They said, "We don't know either." In fact, the Pokémon Company tried to dissuade the producers from using the Magic Wall Dolls in the movie because they didn't know how it should be portrayed in the movie. In addition, the visual effects team had a headache about the internal structure of the roaring bomb Pokémon that appeared in the film. "When he opened his mouth, a huge mouth was exposed, and there was basically no place to put the brain and other internal organs." The world of Pokémon has posed a difficult problem to the producers, but fortunately the cute Pikachu came to the rescue. |
