"Avengers 4" beats "Star Wars 7" to set a new record for North American midnight box office

According to box office information compiled by Mojo, "Avengers 4: End Game" grossed $60 million in the midnight show on Thursday night (early Friday morning) in theaters in North America, successfully surpassing the $57 million record of "Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens".

In addition, according to Variety statistics, the revenue of 412 Imax theaters in North America reached 4.8 million U.S. dollars, ranking third in history.

Starting from Friday local time, "Avengers 4: End Game" has been released in 4,600 theaters across North America, and pre-sale tickets set a new record within an hour of the premiere.

"Avengers 4" has been released in 46 film markets around the world. The global total box office in the first two days has exceeded 305 million US dollars, of which the first-day box office in China was 107 million US dollars. The cumulative box office in China has now reached 154 million US dollars.

"Avengers 4" also broke the historical record held by "Avengers 3" with a first-day box office of 15.3 million US dollars in the UK, an increase of 86% over "Avengers 3". It also broke the first-day box office record in Brazil with a score of 7 million US dollars.

Russia will be the last region to release "Avengers 4", which will be officially released next Monday, April 29.

Previously, analysts predicted that "Avengers 4" would break the 300 million box office mark in North America in its first week of release, breaking the first-week box office record of 257 million US dollars held by "Avengers 3".
