"Tomb Raider" movie will have a sequel, and Camila Cabello will continue to play Lara Croft

According to Deadline, the production companies of last year's film "Tomb Raider: Tomb Raider" MGM and Warner Bros. have hired Amy Jump to write the script for the sequel.

Jump is the screenwriter of the film "Skyscraper" starring Tom Hiddleston and the film "Fire and Fire" starring "Captain Marvel" Brie Larson. It is not clear how the story of the sequel to the "Tomb Raider" film will develop.

"Tomb Raider: Rise of the Tomb Raider" is adapted from the game "Tomb Raider 9", and the screenwriters are Geneva Robertson-Dworet ("Captain Marvel") and Alastair Siddons (the movie "The Offender" starring Fassbender).

Alicia Vikander, the heroine of Tomb Raider: The Beginning, has previously publicly stated that she is willing to return to play Lara. According to Deadline, Alicia Vikander likes Jump's script, suggesting that she will continue to play Lara.

According to IGN, Tomb Raider: Rise of the Tomb Raider grossed over $216 million worldwide, with only $58 million in the U.S. The film received very poor reviews, with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of only 52%. IGN once gave it a 5.5 rating, calling it "an action movie that can be skipped."
