Star Wars 9 is the final chapter of the Skywalker family, but it does not mean the end of the Star Wars series. At the Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm Chairman Kathleen Kennedy told the Hollywood Reporter that she is discussing with Game of Thrones director David Benioff and DB Weiss and Star Wars 8 director Rian Johnson to conceive a new Star Wars legend for the next 10 years. Kennedy said that the plot they discussed with the director will span at least 10 years. "We are studying the next legend. We are not just studying another trilogy. We are really studying the next 10 years, or even longer." This is definitely good news for Star Wars fans. It seems that Lucasfilm is learning the Marvel movie business model and planning major story frameworks for many years in advance. According to previous reports, the new trilogy to be filmed by "Star Wars 8" director Rian Johnson will add a large number of new characters from other corners of the galaxy that have never been explored in "Star Wars" movies, novels and comics. As for Game of Thrones directors David Benioff and DB Weiss, there are rumors that they will be developing a series of films set in the Old Republic period, hundreds of years before the original films. Considering that Kennedy and three directors are planning stories for the next ten years to create a new Star Wars legend, the films of these three directors should be closely connected in terms of plot. |
