Viola Davis confirmed to return for 'Suicide Squad' reboot

According to an exclusive insider from foreign media TheWrap, Viola Davis will return to play Amanda Waller in the rebooted version of "Suicide Squad" directed by James Gunn. It was previously reported that Margot Robbie will return to play Harley Quinn, Idris Elba will replace Will Smith as Deadshot, and Jai Courtney will return to play Captain Boomerang. So although this rebooted version of "Suicide Squad" will obviously not be the sequel to "Suicide Squad 2" in 2016, with the return of some actors, there must be a connection between the two movies.

Previously, producer Peter Safran said: "First of all, we don't call it "Suicide Squad 2" because it is a reboot, so it is called "Suicide Squad". I think everyone should be excited and looking forward to this film. Everything you expect from a James Gunn-style script will be presented. I think this is enough to illustrate our commitment to everyone, and I believe we can do more than that."

The reboot of "The Suicide Squad" directed by James Gunn is expected to start filming in Atlanta in September this year and is scheduled to be released in North America on August 6, 2021.
