One Piece comics sales exceed 500 million, breaking its own Guinness World Record

Today (August 4), the official Twitter account of "One Piece" announced that the cumulative global sales of comics have exceeded 500 million copies, breaking the Guinness World Record for "the largest-selling comic series by a single author". The previous record holder was also "Eiichiro Oda". In addition, the official Twitter account also shared a photo of "Weekly Shonen Jump" editor-in-chief Hiroyuki Nakano holding a Guinness certificate.

"One Piece" is a youth manga drawn by Japanese manga artist Eiichiro Oda, which began serialization in Shueisha's "Weekly Shonen Jump" on July 22, 1997. The adapted TV animation "One Piece" premiered on Fuji TV on October 20, 1999.

On May 11, 2012, "One Piece" won the 41st Japan Cartoonists Association Award. On July 21, 2017, the Japan Memorial Day Association passed the certification and established July 22 of each year as "One Piece Day".
