"Guardians of the Galaxy 3" is saved! Original director James Gunn returns

Last summer, James Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy, was fired by Disney due to a Twitter scandal. Now, according to Deadline, Disney has invited James Gunn back to direct Guardians of the Galaxy 3. James Gunn is currently the director and screenwriter of Warner Bros.' Suicide Squad 2. He will return to Marvel to direct Guardians of the Galaxy 3 after completing work on Suicide Squad 2.

James Gunn's personal Twitter has finally spoken again after 8 months of silence, responding to the news. Gunn said that he is sincerely grateful to all those who have supported him in the past few months. "I will keep learning and will continue to work hard to be the best person. I am very grateful for Disney's decision and I am happy to continue making this movie."

According to Deadline, the rehiring of Gunn was actually considered a few months ago. After Gunn's public apology, Disney Chairman Alan Horn and Gunn met on multiple occasions to discuss the matter, and later after consultation with the Marvel team, the decision was finally made.
