According to The Hollywood Reporter, the production of Aquaman 2 has been confirmed, and the screenwriter of the first film, David Johnson, will continue to write it. The first director, James Wan, will serve as the producer of Aquaman 2, but it has not yet been determined whether he will continue to direct the new film. Previously, James Wan had worked with David Johnson twice, in The Conjuring 2 and Aquaman.

Aquaman was released in various regions around the world in December last year and earned $1.12 billion worldwide. This is the first DC superhero movie to break the $1 billion mark since "The Dark Knight Rises" in 2012.
