Rotten Tomatoes announces top 10 movies of the year, with Black Panther topping the list and receiving criticism

Recently, Rotten Tomatoes, a North American film rating website, selected the top ten films of 2018 based on the audience's ratings of the films. However, it divided the list into two lists: "Top Ten Widely Released Films" and "Top Ten Small-Scale Preview Films", which refined the selection criteria and made them more fair and accurate.

Among the top ten widely released films, there are three superhero movies: "Black Panther", "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" and "Incredibles 2", with "Black Panther" ranking first. "Mission Impossible 6" starring Tom Cruise ranks second, while there are also heartwarming films such as "Paddington 2" and "My Neighbors".

However, Chinese netizens seem to be dissatisfied with the results of the selection, especially the fact that Black Panther topped the list. Some netizens complained: "You don't need to read any list that names Black Panther as the best film" and "The plot is insulting people's IQ. Yes, I'm talking about Black Panther." But obviously, North American audiences prefer this movie, which is also entering this year's Oscars.

Small-scale preview films refer to films that are screened in fewer than 600 theaters in North America. Most of them are art films, and "Roma" won the championship without any suspense. This movie has topped the annual list for many times. "The Rider" directed by Zhao Ting, daughter of Song Dandan, ranked sixth, and "Shoplifters" directed by Hirokazu Koreeda ranked fifth.
