Commemorating the 20th anniversary of Akira Kurosawa's death! "Rashomon" will be adapted into an American TV series

Today, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the death of the famous Japanese director Akira Kurosawa, Amblin Pictures, founded by Steven Spielberg and others, announced that it will adapt Kurosawa's classic work "Rashomon" into an American TV series of the same name. It will be a thriller mystery drama with 10 episodes per season.

"Rashomon", a movie made more than 60 years ago, has been adapted and re-created in countless movies and TV series. The film is based on the short story "In the Grove of Bamboos" by Japanese writer Ryunosuke Akutagawa. It is set in the Heian period of Japan, where wars, natural disasters and diseases were constant. It mainly tells the story of a case caused by the killing of a samurai and the various things that happened after the case in which people accused each other of being the murderer.

"Rashomon" won the Golden Lion Award at the 1951 Venice International Film Festival and the 23rd Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and was selected as one of the 200 most famous Japanese films.

The day when the news of "Rashomon" being adapted into a TV series was released happened to be the birthday of the famous Hollywood director Steven Spielberg. Spielberg has said many times that he would watch Kurosawa's films repeatedly to find inspiration from them.
