Bilibili launches comics APP, already owns copyrights of hundreds of Japanese and Chinese comics

Recently, Bilibili launched the Bilibili Comics App. Currently, the App is available for download on the Apple App Store and major Android app stores. According to the App developer information published by the App Store, the developer of the Bilibili Comics App is Shanghai Hehehe Culture Communication Co., Ltd., an affiliated company of Bilibili.

We can see classic Japanese comics such as "Pokemon", "Naruto", "Fairy Tail" and "Gintama" in this comic APP. According to statistics, it has already launched hundreds of works online.

It is worth mentioning that the Chinese copyright of these works has long been owned by Tencent. Earlier reports said that in October, Tencent increased its stake in Bilibili by US$317.6 million in cash, and soon after, the two sides reached a strategic cooperation, covering animation, games and other ACG content.

However, it is still unknown whether the content we currently see on the Bilibili Comics APP comes from the authorization of Tencent or the multi-platform distribution of the content owner after the copyright expires.
