Netflix's The Witcher TV series confirms Ciri and Yennefer's cast

Good news, according to exclusive news from The Hollywood Reporter, the actress who will play the heroine in Netflix's much-anticipated live-action TV series "The Witcher" has now been confirmed.

Ciri will be played by Freya Allan (representative work "Into the Badlands"), Yennefer will be played by Anya Chalotra (representative work "Wanderlust"), and with Henry Cavill previously confirmed to play Geralt, the series has now confirmed three main characters.

Freya Allan as Ciri:

Anya Chalotra as Yennefer:

Many supporting roles in the live-action TV series of The Witcher have also been chosen. For example, Jodhi May will play Queen Calanthe, the "Lioness of Cintra", Ciri's grandmother:

Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson plays King Eist of Cintra, a warrior from the Skellige Islands, who later proposes to Queen Calanthe and becomes her (second) husband. He has no blood relationship with Ciri:

Adam Levy plays Druid Irmia (the one whose mask was stolen). MyAnna Buring plays Tissaia, the principal of Aretuza School of Magic, who once took care of Yennefer:

Millie Brady as the tragic Princess Renfri:

Judging from the cast list, the series seems to be intentionally different from the game, and will use the original novel to create another wizarding world. Fortunately, the actors' appearance follows the original setting, that is, the Polish Slavic tradition. The official also stated that they will try to restore the Slavic cultural elements in the story, and mainly use the original novel rather than the game trilogy as a template.

Creator Lauren Schmidt Hissrich also emphasized this point in an interview. Hissrich said that she is also a "Witcher" game player, but she must be away from the game to create. So she deliberately stayed away from the game and tried to create a unique visual expression and unique connotation for the series.

The live-action TV series of The Witcher will be produced by Netflix, and the story will be adapted based on the first two volumes of the original novel, Sword of Destiny and The Last Wish. The first season will be broadcast in 8 episodes and is expected to be launched in 2019.
