Li Bingbing and Statham's new film "The Meg" IGN 7.3 points: The giant shark is exciting

IGN today released the ratings of the currently popular sci-fi thriller "The Meg". The film, directed by Joe Detduba and starring Jason Statham and Li Bingbing, scored 7.3 points. The film was released in China on August 10 and has a Douban score of 6.2.

In the movie The Meg, Jason Statham plays Jonas Taylor, a former deep-sea rescue expert who rescues his ex-wife from a unique undersea disaster. His ex-wife is trapped in the Mariana Trench, and the rescue discovers that the trench is deeper than anyone realized. To make matters worse, she is also attacked by a giant prehistoric shark, Megalodon.

Overall review:

The Meg is a big, quiet (more noise than action) shark movie that takes itself a little too seriously, that's all I'm saying. Jason Statham fits the bill perfectly, the shark attacks are hilarious, and the other supporting actors have their own personalities that don't make the script boring. It could have been more noise than action, but on the bright side, again, a 90-foot shark is plenty exciting.

Rating: 7.3 Good
