Trailer for BBC miniseries War of the Worlds: What if aliens invaded Britain?

The BBC released a trailer for the mini-series "War of the Worlds" today. Unlike the movie starring Tom Cruise, the mini-series is set against the backdrop of an alien invasion of Britain.

The BBC said it was a tense and thrilling original alien invasion story that tells the story of a young couple fighting to survive against a terrifying alien enemy they cannot understand.

The War of the Worlds miniseries is based on George Wells' famous science fiction novel and is set in the early 20th century during the reign of King Edward VII, a period similar to the original.

The Martians came to the British Empire, the dominant power on Earth at the time, hoping to rule the Earth by force. Their technological level was far superior to that of the Earthlings, and the Earthlings had no chance of winning. However, after a period of time, the Martians died mysteriously one after another.

The War of the Worlds miniseries, starring Eleanor Tomlinson, Rafe Spall and Robert Carlyle, will air in three episodes this fall.
