Brad Pitt to star in sci-fi film Ad Astra

James Gray's new film "Lost City of Z" has received rave reviews from critics since its premiere at the New York Film Festival last year. The film will be released in the United States on April 21 this year. There is news that the director's latest film plan has turned to the science fiction theme "Ad Astra", and Brad Pitt is expected to join. Pitt's own film company Plan B has also participated in the production of "Lost City of Z".

As Paramount postponed the filming of "World War Z 2", Brad Pitt has some free time in his schedule, so he is very likely to join the new sci-fi film "Ad Astra". After all, he has never participated in any sci-fi movie. His previous works "The Sixth Sense" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" are more or less related to sci-fi. "12 Monkeys" belongs to another direction of cerebral sci-fi film.

The story of Ad Astra revolves around an engineer with mild autism whose father left him 20 years ago when he went to Neptune to search for extraterrestrial life. As an adult, he travels across the Milky Way to find his father and why he failed.

Brad Pitt and James Gray have known each other for many years. Pitt had planned to star in James Gray's last aborted project "The Grey Man". Brad Pitt was originally scheduled to star in "The Lost City of Z", but was eventually replaced by Charlie Hunnam.

It is reported that James Gray and Ethan Ross will co-write the script to keep the budget within a controllable range. It is believed that the shooting date of "Ad Astra" is not far away. Brad Pitt's new film "War Machine" co-produced with "Animal Kingdom" director David Michôd will also be released in 2017. This film is regarded by the media as one of the most anticipated films this year.
