James Gunn's Superman movie won't feature Batman

James Gunn himself has confirmed that Batman will not appear in the Superman: Legacy movie he is directing. Gunn confirmed in response to a fan question on Threads that Batman cannot appear in Superman: Legacy "because he is not in the script."

Although it seems a bit ridiculous to confirm this, this question is likely due to a strange rumor earlier this year that Ryan Gosling would be the new Batman in this movie. At the time, Gunn just rolled his eyes and suggested that this was not true, but he did not directly deny that Batman would appear in his Superman movie. Now it is officially responded to this matter.

"Superman: Legacy" is scheduled to be released on July 11, 2025. As a reboot film, it will start the new DC movie universe under the helm of James Gunn. It is expected that "The Authority", "Batman: The Brave and the Bold", "Supergirl: Girl of Tomorrow" and "Swamp Thing" will be released next. Although we will not see Batman in "Superman: Legacy", he will almost certainly appear in "Batman: The Brave and the Bold", which is adapted from the comic of the same name and is expected to feature the Bat Family.
