The producer of "Saw 11" has an idea: it is not a sequel to "Vortex"

Saw 11 has announced a release date, but the content of the film has not yet been disclosed. The film's producer Oren Koules recently revealed some of the remaining issues in Saw 10 in an interview with SFX magazine and shared some future plans for the series.

He began by shedding some light on the fate of some of the characters from the tenth film, stating that Cecilia, the main villain from Saw 10, is "still alive," while "Tobin and Shawnee are still overseas."

In Saw 10, John Kramer, the "Jigsaw", went to Mexico to find Cecilia, who claimed to be a doctor, to find the "miracle cure" she promised to cure his cancer, but found out that it was a scam, so he decided to take revenge on the scammers. Therefore, Saw 11 should continue from the ending of this movie, because Cecilia is confirmed to be alive, and she is also Jigsaw's main target of revenge.

In terms of the series timeline, "Saw 11" may be set between "Saw 10" and "Saw 2", because Jigsaw will die in "Saw 3".

But if Data actor Tobin Bell chooses not to return to the series, could Saw 11 be a sequel to the 2021 series spin-off Whirlpool? This doesn't seem likely. Producer Mark Burg talked about the possibility of another Whirlpool movie in an interview: "Maybe one day we will come back to make a sequel. Chris Rock (starring in Whirlpool) would like to make a sequel, but due to the success and response of Saw 10, our focus is on Saw 11."

"Saw 11" is expected to be released on September 27, 2024.
