Amazon and Games Workshop have further strengthened their collaboration to bring the Warhammer 40,000 universe to the big and small screens. The two companies have been in negotiations for a year. Initially, the two companies only reached an agreement in principle, but now the two companies have finally reached a comprehensive agreement. Last December, Games Workshop announced a partnership with Amazon Studios to adapt Warhammer 40K into movies and TV series, driven by famous actor and Hammersmith Henry Cavill. Cavill, a famous Hammersmith and gamer in Hollywood, will serve as an executive producer on these projects and may star in one of the works. An "elite team" of screenwriters are working together to create the series and movies. However, it will take some time for Warhammer 40K to land on Amazon's streaming platform Prime Video. Games Workshop wrote in its statement: "Games Workshop and Amazon will work together for 12 months to agree on the creative direction of Amazon-produced movies and TV series. The agreement will only take effect after Games Workshop and Amazon have reached an agreement on the creative direction. We will make further announcements in due course." This means that the production of these projects may not officially begin until a year later. In another statement released to the community, Games Workshop stressed that "TV series and film production is a huge undertaking. It's not uncommon for projects to take 2 to 3 years from now to appear on the screen. However, everything is going smoothly now." |
