"47 Ronin" director arrested for allegedly defrauding Netflix of tens of millions of dollars and may be sentenced to life imprisonment

According to foreign media reports, Carl Rising, the American director famous for "47 Ronin", has been arrested and prosecuted recently on suspicion of defrauding Netflix of $11 million a month. If all the charges are proven, he may be sentenced to life imprisonment.

Carl Rising is an American director and screenwriter. His major works include "47 Ronin" and "The Rainy Season of Love". He is suspected of multiple crimes this time, including one case of telecommunications fraud, with a maximum sentence of 20 years, one case of money laundering, with a maximum sentence of 20 years, and five cases of illegal fund transactions, with 10 years each. If all the charges are proven, he may be sentenced to life imprisonment.

The case is based on the fact that the SF film that Ricci originally created for Amazon was purchased and transferred by Netflix for US$61 million in 2018, but there was no substantial progress afterwards. Later, at Ricci's request, an additional US$11 million was added, but there was still no progress.

One year after the project was planned, Netflix decided to terminate the project, resulting in a loss of more than $55 million. It also filed a lawsuit against Rising for $12 million and won, but Rising never paid any compensation.

According to the thick evidence provided by the prosecution, most of Netflix's huge investment was squandered by Rising on personal high consumption, including 1.78 million credit card payments, 1.07 million litigation and personal divorce lawyer fees, nearly 5 million for various hotels and high-end furniture consumption, 2.41 million for the purchase of five Rolls-Royces and a Ferrari, and 650,000 for high-end watches and luxury clothing.
