The Last of Us TV series season 2 to go into production in 2024

The second season of HBO's adaptation of "The Last of Us" is expected to go into production in early 2024.

According to Variety, HBO boss Casey Bloys shared the news at an HBO press conference held in New York recently.

Bloys said that the recent Actors Guild strike has delayed the production of the next season of "The Last of Us". Perhaps based on this background, "The Last of Us Season 2" is not on HBO's 2024 release list.

Currently, the second season of the show is scheduled to be released in 2025 as part of the drama plan "Sizzle", which also includes the third season of "White Lotus Resort" and the third season of "Euphoria".

Back in July, series co-creator and showrunner Craig Mazin said he still hoped The Last of Us Season 2 would meet its planned 2025 release date, but he also noted that the strike meant the studio might have to delay the release date.

Masin also revealed that the script for the first episode of The Last of Us Season 2 has been completed, and he has been able to confirm the direction of the entire series. It should be noted that the plot of the second season will not cover all the content of The Last of Us 2 game.
