Midnight at Freddy's premiere for film and TV, second video game adaptation

Co-produced by Universal Pictures and Blumhouse, "Midnight at Freddy's" is adapted from the classic horror game of the same name. Deadline previously reported that it predicted that this film could become the second highest-grossing film in North America this fall, and now it seems that the prediction is very accurate.

Since its release last week, the film has grossed $78 million in North America and $130 million worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time in the U.S., behind Nintendo and Illumination's The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed $146.3 million, according to Variety.

Not only that, the good box office results also made "Midnight at Freddy's" the highest-grossing horror movie in the world in 2023, surpassing "The Nun 2" (box office revenue of 88.1 million US dollars).

Midnight at Freddy's had the third-highest opening for a horror film in the U.S., behind only the two IT films, which had openings of $123 million and $91 million, respectively.
