"The Expendables 4" has the worst start in the series in North America, and "The Nun 2" has won three consecutive championships

Last weekend, the North American film market hit a new low for the year, with a total weekend box office of 51.7 million US dollars. "The Expendables 4" opened in North America with 8.3 million US dollars, the lowest in the series. The championship was also given to "The Nun 2", which was in its third week of release. The latter took 8.4 million US dollars over the weekend, achieving three consecutive championships in the off-season.

Lionsgate picked up the Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham film for $20 million, with $20 million spent on marketing. The Expendables 4 performed only slightly better than 2012's Red Dead Redemption, which grossed $4.5 million, making it the second-worst start for a Stallone-starring film.

"The Expendables 4" is Jason Statham's second worst performing movie this year. Earlier this year, "King's Blast" starring him opened in 2,168 theaters, with a box office of only $3.1 million in its first weekend and a cumulative box office of $6.4 million.

Michael Chavez's "The Nun 2" has accumulated $69.2 million in North America and $204 million worldwide, and is expected to surpass "Annabelle Comes Home"'s global box office of $231.2 million.

"One Night in Venice" earned $6.3 million in the second week of its release, with a total of $25.35 million in North America, $71.55 million worldwide, and $4.93 million in mainland China (about 36 million RMB).

"The Equalizer 3" earned $4.72 million in its fourth week of release, a total of $81.26 million in North America and $148 million worldwide.

"Barbie" has grossed $630 million in North America and $1.427 billion worldwide.

"Oppenheimer" has grossed $321 million in North America and $925 million worldwide.

"Blue Beetle" has a cumulative North American box office of $69.82 million and a global cumulative total of $122 million.
