Neil: The second season of The Last of Us will be able to start filming immediately after the strike ends

Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the overall outline of the second season of The Last of Us has been fully finalized and production can begin once the ongoing Hollywood strike ends. He was also asked about the studio's next game during the interview, but he did not reveal any information about it.

"We have outlined everything we are going to do for season two and we will be ready once the strike is over," Neil said.

This is consistent with what showrunner Craig Mazin said earlier, when he said a second season was already planned. He also said the first episode was written and sent to HBO hours before the strike began.

During the interview, Neil was also asked about the third Last of Us game, but he did not reveal any information, only saying: "I can't say anything about Naughty Dog's next game. Our head of communications will kill me."

Naughty Dog previously confirmed in March that the studio had already chosen its next game to develop. Although Neil admitted that many people are excited about The Last of Us 3, he did not confirm that this is the studio's next work.

In addition to the American TV series and the next game, Neil also provided consulting for Universal Studios' game-themed "The Last of Us" haunted house entertainment facility. He said: "My job is really strange. I received feedback about this attraction, I am making a TV show, and I am making another game, so I have been jumping back and forth on different projects."

Before the strike began, HBO had said that the second season of The Last of Us would be aired in 2025. However, the current strike in Hollywood will certainly delay the start of filming of the series, which means that the airing date may also be delayed accordingly. The second season will cover some of the events in The Last of Us 2.
