Game of Thrones Jon Snow spin-off now on hold

The Game of Thrones spin-off series featuring Jon Snow, one of the main characters in the original work, is no longer being produced. Kit Harington, the actor who plays Jon Snow in the series, confirmed the news to the media.

He said the show is not currently in production: "The project was ruled out because we couldn't find a suitable story that we were excited enough to tell." Therefore, the crew decided to stop production "for the time being." Harington said he hopes to reconsider the project "someday in the future", "but not yet, it's dead on the shelf."

The series was first reported to be under consideration in 2022. Original author George R. R. Martin also confirmed this, saying it was Harington's idea.

"I've never really discussed it because it's in development," Harington said. "I didn't want word to get out that it was in development and people to start launching theories that would cause them to get excited or hate it in advance and it might never come true."

Last May, HBO said the team was "working closely with writers" to try to launch a standalone spin-off of Jon Snow. But at the time, HBO said it was unclear whether the show would eventually "go all the way."
