In an interview with the magazine, executive producer and director Ali Selim, who is also the director of the six-part Disney+ series centered on Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, which concluded this week with a 37-minute finale, talked about the passionate Marvel fan base and meeting their expectations. “Oh, I don’t read reviews, although I respect them,” Selim said. “For me, I see all the narrative work I do as a conversation with the audience. When the show is finished and it’s on the screen, my part of the conversation ends. Then it’s the audience’s turn to talk. I think that’s valuable.” Although the audience's reviews of the show were mixed, Selim has no regrets. He said: "Is our job to meet the audience's expectations? Or should we tell the story we are telling? This is a tricky question. I hope everyone likes it, but I don't have such expectations for myself, so I still feel good about the response." |
