2023 summer box office exceeds 12 billion: "The First Part of the Gods" ranks fourth

According to real-time data from Lighthouse Professional Edition, as of 11:22 on July 29, the total box office (including pre-sales) for the 2023 summer season (June 1-August 31) has exceeded 12 billion.

Among them, "She Vanished", "The Octagonal Cage" and "30,000 Miles from Chang'an" ranked the top three in the summer box office, with box office revenues of 3.5 billion, 2 billion and 1.4 billion respectively.

"The First Part of the Investiture of the Gods", which has been in the spotlight recently, ranked fourth with a box office of 830 million yuan, which is a big gap from the other three films. However, its release time is also the latest among these films, with only 10 days left.

The investment in the Fengshen trilogy is huge. Although there is no official accurate data on the exact amount, previous news said it was over 3 billion, of which "Fengshen I" accounted for over 1.6 billion. To make a profit, it would require three times the box office, which is very difficult to do now.

The trilogy director Wuershan also previously responded to the possibility of the release of the next two films, saying that although the pre-production shooting of the first, second and third parts has been completed, the last two parts have not yet undergone post-production such as visual effects, music and sound. It depends on the performance of the first part before continuing to advance the post-production of the next two parts.

Wuershan also mentioned that if the film fails at the box office, he will spend 10 years paying off his debts.
