Dune 2 postponed to March 2024, Godzilla vs. Kong 2 also affected

Warner Bros. has made major adjustments to its 2023 film schedule, with "Dune 2" postponed from November 3, 2023 to March 15, 2024.

The sequel to the 2021 film was originally scheduled for a 2023 release, but the film's release has been delayed due to the ongoing strike by Hollywood writers and actors. At least part of the problem is that stars Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya won't be able to promote Dune 2 if the SAG-AFTRA strike is still ongoing in November.

This schedule adjustment also affected other Warner films:

Godzilla vs. Kong: A New Empire has been moved from March 15, 2024 to April 12

The Lord of the Rings animated film The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim has been moved from April 12, 2024 to December 13

As the Hollywood Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA are still on strike in an attempt to reach better terms with Hollywood studios, a large number of movies and TV series have been affected, including the sequel to "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" which has been postponed indefinitely. Disney has also recently adjusted the release dates of Marvel, Star Wars and other movies.

However, the situation with Dune 2 is a bit different. The film has already been shot, and the delay may be due to the publicity issues mentioned above. Of course, it may also be that the studio wants to release it later.
