The Walking Dead spin-off pays tribute to The Last of Us Part II

In the fifth episode of the first season of The Walking Dead: Dead City, the heroine Maggie went deep into the sewer and fought against a zombie. This zombie looked very familiar to players of The Last of Us Part II.

In The Last of Us Part II, Abby encounters the Rat King in the basement of the hospital and has a boss battle. Interestingly, the monster that appears in The Walking Dead: Dead City is called the "King of the Walking Dead", and not only is the appearance, but even the name is very similar. You can see the comparison of the two screenshots below.

In an interview with the media, Lauren Cohan, an American-British actress who plays Maggie, said that the inspiration for the King of the Walking Dead came from the concept of mice entwining their tails to become the King of Mouse. She also revealed that three people were working together to control the monster.

In The Last of Us 2, the Rat King is also a super organism formed by multiple mutant creatures entangled together.
