Tom Cruise's next movie will really go to space: budget is as high as $200 million

Tom Cruise is known for his own high-risk stunts, and in his upcoming space movie with Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman, he will actually go into deep space and become the first civilian to walk in space.

According to Variety, the film has a budget of approximately $200 million with financial backing from Universal Pictures.

During the New York premiere of Mission: Impossible 7: Deadly Reckoning - Part 1, Cruise said that a production start date for the new film has not yet been set, but mentioned that they have been working hard on the space-set film. He also needs to finish production on Mission: Impossible 7: Part 2 while filming the new film.

Christopher McQuarrie, the screenwriter and director of both films, previously confirmed that he and Cruise will start working on the second half of the film immediately after the press conference for the first half.
