Sony Pictures' original Spider-Man spinoff, Venom, is about to become a trilogy. Although Sony Pictures is expanding the Spider-Man series with plans for Kraven the Hunter and Mrs. Spider, the studio has not forgotten Tom Hardy's Venom and is preparing to continue telling the symbiote's story. According to Murcia Today, Venom 3 will be released in October 2024, and filming of the film will begin this week in the Los Mateos neighborhood of Cartagena, Spain. The same report also revealed that production head Tate Araez explained that Cartagena was chosen because it is similar to certain streets in Mexico. The last time the audience saw Eddie Brock and Venom was in the Mexican cantina in the 2021 movie Spider-Man: No Homecoming. In addition to Tom Hardy returning to play the role of Eddie Brock, screenwriter and producer Kelly Marcel has also confirmed that she will direct Venom 3. Fans haven't seen Eddie Brock and Venom since the post-credits scene in Spider-Man: No Home, but that's not the case for the Venomverse. In fact, the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse went to San Francisco, where Venom is, specifically Mrs. Chen's store, just as the Spotted Man came to steal the candy. Now that the connection has been made, it will be interesting to see how this multiverse story escalates, especially considering Sony's back-to-back Spider-Man movies. |
