The Mummy movie will be remade by the director of Evil Dead Rising and will be released in April 2026

The Hollywood classic "The Mummy" will be remade and is scheduled to be released on April 17, 2026, directed by Lee Cronin, the director of "Evil Dead Rising".

Lee Cronin, the director and screenwriter of the 2023 horror film "The Evil Dead Rising," will write and direct the new "Mummy" film for Blumhouse Productions, a company specializing in horror films.

Lee Cronin told THR: "This is going to be unlike any Mummy movie you've seen before. I'm going to go deep into the ground and dig up something very ancient and very scary."

In a tweet, Cronin said: "Something very scary is coming in 2026."

The Mummy has a long history of movies, starting with the 1930s and ending with the familiar version starring Brendan Fraser in 1999. Dwayne Johnson starred in a spin-off film, The Scorpion King, in 2002.

In 2017, Universal Studios invited Tom Cruise to reboot the "Mummy" series. Universal originally planned to create a Dark Universe, but Tom Cruise's version of "The Mummy" failed both in terms of reputation and box office, resulting in the cancellation of other films in the Dark Universe.
