In the Japanese animation industry, almost every Ghibli animation led by Hayao Miyazaki is a masterpiece, bringing countless touching moments to audiences around the world. The 1988 masterpiece "My Neighbor Totoro", but the audience may find that the girl on the official poster may be thought to be the heroine Satsuki or Mei, but in fact she is neither.

The official screenwriter Hirokatsu Kihara once confirmed in the book that this girl was neither Satsuki nor Mei. In the first and second drafts, it was indeed Satsuki or Mei, but in the third draft, Miyazaki decided to replace her with a third person.
