"Dungeons & Dragons: Rogue Glory" wins the North American box office

"Dungeons & Dragons: Rogue's Glory" was released in North America last weekend, winning the championship with $38.5 million in its first weekend, slightly higher than industry expectations. This result is higher than the $36.2 million of "Jumanji" and the $28.3 million of "Player in the Dark", but lower than the $44.1 million of "Uncharted" last year.

The film grossed $71.5 million worldwide in its first weekend, and 35.16 million RMB in mainland China. As the film cost $150 million, even with a 90% Rotten Tomatoes rating and an A- CinemaScore, the pressure to recoup the cost is still considerable.
