Disney has released the official trailer for Doctor Who, the latest revamped version of the historic British sci-fi series set to premiere on Disney+ in May. Rwandan-Scottish actor Ncuti Gatwa will play the iconic Doctor, the millennia-old alien Time Lord known for his ability to regenerate into different forms throughout history. Gatwa will play the Fifteenth Doctor, joining a long line of British actors including David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker, Peter Capaldi, Matt Smith and Christopher Eccleston. Trailer: Nguti Gatwa is best known for his role in the hit Netflix teen comedy series Sex Education or as "Artist Ken" in the hit comedy Barbie. Gatwa also recently showed off his dancing skills at the Oscars, appearing on stage with other "Kens" as Ryan Gosling's backup dancer in "I'm Just Ken." Gatwa is paired with British actress Millie Gibson, who plays the new companion Ruby Sunday in the new episodes of this season. In addition, recent reports indicate that Indian-British actress Varada Sethu has been hired to take over the role of the new companion in the upcoming season, which is about to be produced. The first two episodes of this new season of Doctor Who will be available on Disney+ in the US on May 10. Meanwhile, the series will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK the following day. |
