Foreign media: Tom Cruise praised DC's "The Flash" and couldn't help but give a thumbs up to the director after watching it

The DC superhero movie "The Flash" will be released in North America on June 16. Warner is so confident about it that it has arranged to screen it for theater practitioners at Cinemacon in April. DC Films co-CEO James Gunn even called it "probably one of the greatest superhero movies ever."

Recently, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that superstar Tom Cruise, who was called the "cinema savior" by Spielberg, also likes it. Tom Cruise has seen the movie and liked it very much. He even called director Andy Muschietti and praised the movie.

According to sources, at the end of February this year, Tom Cruise met with David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery Channel, during which the mogul mentioned how great the movie was. Tom Cruise was curious and asked to see it. David Zaslav asked his men to send a copy of the movie (not sure whether it was a film or a digital DCP) to Tom Cruise.

Insiders said that a Warner employee brought a copy of the film to Tom Cruise's home in Beverly Hills and stayed there until he finished watching "The Flash". The staff member then took the copy of the film back to Warner, and certain confidentiality measures were taken during the process.

Tom Cruise was so attracted by what he saw that he gave director Andy Muschietti a surprise call after watching it. According to people familiar with the matter, Tom Cruise praised the movie and said that "The Flash" is "everything you want in a movie, it gives you, and this is the kind of movie we need now."

In recent years, Cruise has become a promoter of the movie theater experience. At an Oscar nominees lunch earlier this year, Spielberg once said to him: "You saved Hollywood's ass, you might as well save theatrical distribution!" This conversation was filmed and went viral online. Spielberg was referring to Tom Cruise's efforts to keep "Top Gun 2" in theaters instead of streaming media, which helped the film reach a total box office of US$1.49 billion worldwide and triggered a revival of the theater viewing craze last summer.

When the COVID-19 pandemic was at its worst in 2020, Tom Cruise went to a London cinema to watch Christopher Nolan's "Tenet". He was photographed by many fans at the time and he said to the audience: "I love it!" It has become a meme among movie lovers on social media.

Tom Cruise's investment in the cinematic experience paid off handsomely, as he reportedly received a $100 million profit share from Top Gun 2.

The Flash, starring Ezra Miller and starring Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as different versions of Batman, had a long road to the screen, with many changes of directors. Last year, Ezra Miller faced personal problems that threatened the production and release of the film.

But the long road is about to end. Warner Bros. is taking the film so seriously that it will screen a full version of the film for theater owners at CinemaCon in April, nearly two months before its release.
