Today (February 22), Deadline reported that during the Berlin Film Festival, the famous director Steven Spielberg announced that he will still produce the "Napoleon Bonaparte" mini-series for HBO. The show will have seven episodes, but the length of each episode has not yet been disclosed. The plot of the miniseries will be based on a script by Stanley Kubrick, who planned to direct a feature film about the French emperor after the success of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Although the director spent a lot of time researching the life of Napoleon Bonaparte and cast Jack Nicholson in the lead role, the film was never made. HBO has been developing a Napoleon series since at least 2013. In addition to Spielberg, Cary Fukunaga (True Detective) is also involved in the production, but it is unclear whether he has been assigned to the project. It is not yet clear when the show will be released and which actors will appear in it. It is reported that Ridley Scott is also currently producing a biopic about Napoleon Bonaparte, in which Joaquin Phoenix will play the French emperor. |
