Los Angeles theaters open this Saturday, "Black Widow" confirmed to be released in theaters

According to foreign media reports, the governor of California announced that Los Angeles cinemas will reopen as early as this Saturday (March 13), limiting the attendance rate to 25% and accommodating a maximum of 100 people in the theater. It is not yet clear which theaters will be able to reopen this weekend. Some major theater chains believe that their theaters will not be able to be put into operation until March 19.

Theaters in other parts of California will also be allowed to open if 2 million doses of vaccine are distributed to the medically underserved population and the number of new cases per 100,000 people per day is less than 10.

After New York cinemas resumed operations on March 5, the two largest box office markets in the United States showed signs of recovery. Disney CEO Bob Chapek also said at a shareholders meeting the day before yesterday that Marvel Studios' "Black Widow" will be released in theaters on May 7 and will not be released on the streaming media Disney+ at the same time.

The reopening of theaters in New York and Los Angeles is a positive sign for the film industry. In recent weeks, film companies optimistically adjusted the release dates of "A Quiet Place Part II" (May 28) and "Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway Plan" (May 14). Universal Pictures' blockbuster "Fast and Furious 9" has locked in a June 25 release date.
