Earlier this month, Amazon Studios and Games Workshop finalized a deal that had been in the works for a year, meaning Amazon Studios now has the exclusive rights to movies and TV shows based on Warhammer 40,000, and according to Games Workshop's subsequent announcement, there are several more works in production. Henry Cavill, an actor in Superman and The Witcher, also shared the news on social media. He has spent a long time trying to promote the production of the live-action series of Warhammer 40K. He is trying to realize his 30-year dream as a fan of Warhammer 40K. The Warhammer team released an update stating: “It’s officially confirmed – Games Workshop and Amazon Studios have finalised their agreement – the creative guidelines have been finalised and we’re ready to bring Warhammer to the screen. But what does this actually mean? Well, it means we now have the outline and order of multiple stories to tell… yes, we said ‘multiple’! It may have taken us a whole year, but it was worth it! And it’s been so much fun to look at the vastness of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, discuss the characters, the storylines, and the theme of ‘valor’ that underpins it all.” According to legal documents, Amazon also has the option to license the rights to the Warhammer fantasy/Medieval universe after the release of Warhammer 40,000, so the deal could go further. However, the two teams stressed that full production is still many years away, and the work, code-named "Project One", has just entered the script writing stage. |
