Kyoto Animation's "Free!" movie sequel grosses over 1 billion yen

The Free! Boys Swimming Club movie Free! -The Final Stroke- Part 2 produced by Kyoto Animation has sold 650,000 tickets so far, with box office revenue exceeding 1 billion yen. The official released a congratulatory picture to celebrate.

The first part of the movie also returned with the second part and was released in Japanese theaters on January 27. The second part of the movie was released in April 2022 and ranked 4th at the box office when it was released. After 11 weeks of release, the box office revenue exceeded 910 million yen and 625,000 tickets were sold. The first part was released in 2021 and ranked 3rd, with box office revenue of 540 million yen as of October of that year.

The Free! series will also hold a 10th anniversary event at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan from August 12 to 13.
