Foreign media IndieWire learned from insiders that the second season of "Wednesday" will not be transferred to Amazon Prime, and viewers can still watch it on Netflix. This is because the agreement between Netflix and MGM was locked long before Amazon acquired MGM. Amazon acquired MGM for $8.5 billion last spring and will seek to leverage all of its content libraries in ways never before possible. Amazon has been exploring ways to make MGM content non-exclusive to Amazon Prime Video, meaning that even if Amazon does have some leverage, it could still have a presence on Netflix. Most of the concerns stem from the fact that Netflix has yet to renew Wednesdays for a second season, even though producers have already scouted locations and plans for the series. In its 28th day on Netflix, Wednesday Season 1 has been streamed 1.237 billion hours, making it Netflix's second-most-watched English-language TV series of all time, behind only Stranger Things 4. |
