Avatar 2's North American box office revenue of $53 million on its first day is twice that of its predecessor

The North American box office of "Avatar: The Way of Water" was reported to be 53 million U.S. dollars on its first day, twice the 26.75 million U.S. dollars of "Avatar" 13 years ago. According to foreign media statistics, the film has currently earned 127 million U.S. dollars in 52 overseas markets around the world, and has accumulated 180 million U.S. dollars worldwide.

Disney expects the film to take in between $130 million and $150 million in its North American opening weekend. Avatar only took in $77 million in its North American opening weekend that year.

The film's global first weekend revenue was around $410 million, and its overseas box office is expected to be 83% ahead of "Avatar" in the same period, 69% ahead of "Top Gun 2" in the same period, 69% ahead of "Jurassic World 3" in the same period, and 39% behind "Spider-Man: No Homecoming" in the same period.

In mainland China, the film earned 145 million RMB on the second day of its release, a slight increase of 15% from Friday, breaking the 300 million RMB mark within two days, and is expected to take in around 450 million RMB in the first weekend.
