"YAIBA (Sword Hero Legend)", an early manga work by "Detective Conan" author Gosho Aoyama, was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" from 1988 to 1993. Gosho Aoyama also won the 38th Japan Shogakukan Manga Award (Children's Manga Unit) for this work.

The manga "Sword Hero Legend" has a total of 24 volumes, the first half of which was adapted into a 52-episode animation "Sword Hero Legend YAIBA" (also translated as "City Storm Boy", "Nine Dragon Balls" and other names) in 1993.

On May 8 of this year, "Weekly Shonen Sunday" officially announced that "Ken Hero Legend" will launch a fully animated work "Shin Samuraiden YAIBA", which will be produced by Wit Studio, directed by Takahiro Hasui, and character designer and chief animation supervisor Kameda Shoto. The original author Gosho Aoyama will personally supervise the script.

Recently, the official released a new promotional trailer for "Shin Samuraiden YAIBA", and the animation will officially start broadcasting from April 2025.

The original story of "Shin Samuraiden YAIBA" tells the story of the protagonist Tetsuken who strives to become a true samurai and practices hard in the jungle. Due to an unexpected incident, he returned to Japan and stayed at the Mine family, who had a connection with Tetsuken's father, Tetsuken Juro. Afterwards, Tetsuken repeatedly clashed with Onimaru, a practical man of kendo, at school. As if in response to the two people seeking to become stronger, the ancient power awakened. "Thunder God Sword" and "Wind God Sword" - the magic swords that have shaken the world since ancient times are now awakened again, and the real story begins.
