The Russo brothers, directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America 3: Civil War, and Avengers 3 and 4, will not be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon. In an interview with Variety, the Russo brothers revealed that they are still in dialogue with Marvel Studios, but still want to distance themselves from the 2019 "Avengers 4" movie. They then stated that there are no plans to return to the MCU before 2030 at the earliest. "We're always communicating, and we need to see what works," the Russo brothers said. "We're not ready to work with Marvel again until at least the end of this decade." After "Avengers 4", the Russo brothers served as directors, screenwriters and producers of other films, including directing "The Gray Man" for Netflix and producing the acclaimed film "The Invisible Universe". Marvel is currently preparing for the next two "Avengers" movies: "Avengers 5: Kang's Dynasty" and "Avengers 6: Secret War", which are scheduled to be released on May 2, 2025 and May 1, 2026 respectively. "Avengers 5" will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, director of "Shang-Chi". The next MCU movie is "Black Panther 2", which will be released in North America on November 11. |
