The movie "Minecraft" is not as bad as expected: the preview response is very good

The first trailer for the Minecraft live-action movie was immediately met with a ton of criticism, with the film's director Jared Hess and producer and the game's senior director Torfi Frans Olafsson recently saying in an interview that they knew from the start there would be a "violent reaction" from the community.

“I know this game means different things to a lot of different people,” Hass said. “We know that no matter what, people are going to express their expectations and have strong opinions about what they want. All of these people give this game their own special personal meaning. So we’re ready for anything.”

Olafsson reminded players who grew up with Minecraft that the film is aimed at a younger generation that may be different from them, and some audiences "were not even born when the first contract and the first discussion of the film were signed." But obviously, most of the box office revenue of game-adapted movies comes from players. Are you sure you want to show this childhood shadow to children who don't understand it?

Obviously the movie will include some things that don't exist in the game, but the duo promises that the screenings went "very well." "People were saying, 'This is nothing like the trailer, this movie is awesome,'" Olafsson said, comparing the unique features of the movie to resource packs or mods that players install.

The live-action Minecraft movie will be released on April 24, 2025.
