While Star Wars TV shows have been released at an alarming rate on Disney+ in recent years, there has been some serious uncertainty about the direction of the franchise three years after the last film, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The good news, however, is that the picture is slowly coming into focus. Damon Lindelof (left) and Justin Britt-Gibson worked together as screenwriters on the Star Wars movies On October 23, foreign media Deadline reported that a new "Star Wars" movie is in production, with the script written by "Lost" producer Damon Lindelof and directed by documentary producer and TV director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. It is Lucasfilm's current top priority "Star Wars" movie. It is reported that this top-secret "Star Wars" movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is set after "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" and may have the return of characters from the sequel trilogy. This will be a standalone film and not a continuation of the Skywalker saga. Disney is currently producing several Star Wars movies, which are in different stages of pre-production. Directors involved include Patty Jenkins and Thor 3 director Taika Waititi. Lindelof has written well-known TV series such as "Lost", "Watchmen" and "The Leftovers", and has also created science fiction blockbusters such as "World War Z", "Prometheus" and "Star Trek Into Darkness". Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is a Pakistani film director who has directed the Marvel series "Wonder Girl". Her documentaries "Saving Face" and "A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness" won her the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short in 2012 and 2016 respectively. Obaid-Chinoy has also won seven Emmy Awards. Shameen Obaid-Chinoy |
