Today, October 20, Yahoo Auctions announced that a signed illustration (colored paper) by Akiko Ikeda, an animator who was murdered in the Kyoto Animation incident, was sold for 1 million yen.

It is reported that Ikeda Akiko was a senior animation industry designer who worked at Kyoto Animation. She was one of the more than 30 victims who died in the Kyoto Animation arson case at the age of 44. She was involved in the production of "Sound! Euphonium" and "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" as a character designer.

In addition, the winner of the auction did not reveal any personal information, but based on the registration information, it is speculated that it is a Chinese bidder or an agent. Industry insiders analyzed that this kind of colored paper made by artists themselves has become more and more popular in recent years, which has a lot to do with the prevalence of AI leading to a huge drop in the value of digital artworks.
