Sony to produce live-action Days Gone film starring Sam Heughan

According to Deadline, Sony PlayStation Productions has teamed up with Vendetta Productions to create a live-action movie of "Days Gone". "Outlander" actor Sam Heughan is in talks to become the film's lead actor, and Oscar-nominated screenwriter Sheldon Turner ("X-Men: First Class" and "Up in the Air") is writing the script.

Days Gone was released in April 2019 and landed on PS4, with cumulative sales exceeding 9 million copies. The game is an open-world action-adventure game set in the Pacific Northwest in a post-apocalyptic world. The protagonist of the game is Deacon St. John, a motorcycle bounty hunter who fights Freakers (zombie-like creatures that often attack in groups) for survival. Deacon also spends a lot of time in the game looking for his long-lost love.

According to Deadline, the Days Gone movie will be a "love ballad of a motorcycle movie, with a motorcycle being Deacon's only mode of transportation."

In addition to Days Gone, Sony is developing other film and television projects:

The Last of Us, live-action series, HBO

Chariots of Fire, Peacock

Gran Turismo movie, directed by District 9 director Neill Blomkamp

Previously, Sony's live-action movie "Uncharted" grossed more than $400 million worldwide.
