Donnie Yen criticizes Quentin Tarantino for portraying Bruce Lee too cartoonishly

In an interview with foreign media Variety, Donnie Yen, one of the stars of "John Wick 4", criticized Quentin Tarantino's "cartoon-like" portrayal of Bruce Lee in his film "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", suggesting that the film exaggerated and played up Bruce Lee's image, making him look like a cartoon character, which is not Bruce Lee's true image.

The late martial arts master was portrayed as an actor with a conceit on the set in Tarantino's 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, played by Mike Moh.

Donnie Yen said: "Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Quentin Tarantino is a famous film director and he is entitled to his status, and I am entitled to my opinion. Obviously, he is making fun of Bruce Lee. It is very cartoonish."

As early as 2021, Bruce Lee's daughter Shannon Lee also criticized the movie "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", saying that she was extremely dissatisfied and angry about Quentin's film portrayal and the way other white male directors treated Bruce Lee when he was alive.
