"Super Mario Bros.: The Movie" has officially exceeded $1 billion at the global box office, making it the first movie this year to break the $1 billion mark, and also the box office champion in the history of game-adapted movies.

The film's weekend box office data has not yet been released. As of this Friday, the film's global box office has reached $970 million, including $483 million in North America and $487 million overseas (140 million yuan in mainland China). The film will be released in Japan and South Korea this weekend, and the global box office is expected to challenge the $1.3 billion mark.
