The new Fantastic Four movie won't tell an origin story

Marvel's new Fantastic Four movie won't be retconning their origin story.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel boss Kevin Feige explained that the new Fantastic Four movie will be a story we have never seen before.

“A lot of people know the origin story. A lot of people understand the foundation. How do we take that and bring something that they haven’t seen before?”

Of course, we've seen the origins of the team twice before on the big screen, with a team consisting of Sue Storm, her brother Johnny, and Ben Grimm, led by Reed Richards, becoming the Fantastic Four - usually after a space mission went wrong, exposing the astronauts to cosmic rays.

There are currently two Fantastic Four movies, the old version in 2005 and the rebooted version in 2015. However, the rebooted version in 2015 changed the origin of this team, and also included the villain and nemesis of the movie, Doctor Doom.

But now Marvel wants to skip that part and bring their first family back. Kevin Feige explained that they have high expectations due to the team's comic book pedigree.
